Lookalike

Has anyone else noticed the uncanny resemblance between Eastenders' Ronnie Mitchell (so brilliantly portrayed by actress Samantha Janus) and the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson?

I hadn't realised Michael had taken to wearing blue contact lenses latterly and I must say I've always preferred Sam when she's a blonde.

Jeez, you can't escape the Jackson hoopla even in the Paradise that is Flores? It's taken a concentrated effort -- not to mention a dab hand with the TV remote control! -- to avoid as much of the coverage as possible here in the States. You do realize that Farrah Fawcett and MJ died the same day, don't you? The following recent joke has been making the rounds, but in case you missed it, herewith:

Farrah Fawcett goes to Heaven on the morning of June 25, and St. Peter grants her the answer to one prayer because of her decent life.

She prays that God will protect the world's children.

That afternoon, Michael Jackson dies.

BTW, will you crazy kids be attending any of this year's Festa do Emigrante, down in Lajes? I look forward to your photos and reports on it.

My fave Jackson joke requires a bit of background explanation about English football (soccer).

The manager (coach) of Manchester United, the biggest football team in the world, is a dour Scotsman called Sir Alex Ferguson (arguably the most successful football manager ever). A long time player for MU is a Welshman called Ryan Giggs. OK?

Q. What's the difference between Michael Jackson and Alex Ferguson?

A. Ferguson will be playing Giggs next year.

Michael Jackson dies and arrives at the pearly gates with victims of the Indian Ocean plane crash.

St. Peter says, "Which one of you is missing a nose?"
